Overview

The Rehabilitation Council of Texas (Council) is federally mandated by the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended in 1992, and advised the Texas Workforce Commission on the policy, scope and effectiveness of vocational rehabilitation services.

The Council wants to hear from the citizens of Texas about your experiences with vocational rehabilitation services, recommendations for improvements, and whether you would like a Council member to attend a local group or organizational meeting relating to vocational rehabilitation issues.

Mission & Values

Mission:  

Partner with the Texas Workforce Commission to advocate for Texans with disabilities in the vocational rehabilitation process.

Values:

  • The right to choice, as realized by access to full information
  • Opening doors to independence and participation in community life through work opportunities
  • Person-centered goals, service plans and delivery systems
  • Sharing roles and responsibilities to improve satisfaction with the rehabilitation process and outcomes
  • Collaboration and partnership with federal, state and private agencies are critical for system improvement
