Exemptions from Minimum Wage Only

The following categories of employees are exempt from minimum wage only:

1. Employees in Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands – special rates apply – Section 206(a)(2)

2. Employees in American Samoa – special rates apply – Section 206(a)(3)

3. Domestic service employees who are not covered by the Social Security Act or who work 8 or fewer hours per week in such service – Section 206(f)

4. New employees younger than age 20 who are within their first 90 days on a job – Section 206(g)
