AUSTIN – Select state agencies and universities will be on hand for a networking opportunity targeted to businesses owned by women, service-disabled veterans and minorities for an event where they can learn about vendor opportunities, state business needs and network with state government procurement staff members. The 2018 Interagency Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Vendor Fair - Marketing for Success will take place on Wednesday, April 18 at the Commons Learning Center, located at the J.J. Pickle Research Campus of the University of Texas, 10100 Burnet Rd. in Austin. Admission and parking are free for registered participants.

Laura Morales, President of Energize Your Outlook, will present welcoming remarks and introduce co-host agencies and HUB coordinators. Morales worked for AT&T and Sprint for 22-years in a variety of positions including retention/high growth sales management, support management, marketing and international business development. Highlighted in the Houston Chronicle, she is the only female motivational speaker featured on cover of business section.

The vendor fair will offer HUB vendors an opportunity to better understand the purchasing requirements of state agencies, advantages of HUB certification and benefits to building relationships.

A Historically Underutilized Business is a profit-making corporation, sole ownership, partnership or joint venture in which at least 51 percent of the shares or stock or other equitable securities are owned by an Asian Pacific American, Black American, Hispanic American, Native American, American woman and/or Service Disabled Veteran, who resides in Texas and actively participates in the control, operations and management of the entity’s affairs.

Registered participants will have access to workshops which will include Communicating with Your Client, Construction and University Panels, and Environmental Quality hosted by various agency personnel. Event and registration information can be found on the TWC Events page.
