Exercise 2: Values Inventory

This exercise helps you identify which job qualities you value most.

Rank each item from 1 to 12 with 1 being most important and 12 least. Use all 12 numbers: no "ties." Place a star next to the top 5 qualities you selected.

Once you begin exploring job possibilities, focus only on jobs that meet your standards on these five criteria.

____ Good benefits (insurance, retirement, etc.)

____ Job security

____ Work hours that meet your needs

____ Satisfactory location

____ Compatible coworkers, supervisors, customers

____ Opportunity to learn and develop skills

____ Challenging and satisfying work

____ Good working conditions / environment

____ Like / believe in what the organization does

____ Chance for promotion / advancement

____ Prestige and respect
