TWC Tax DepartmentMission StatementThe mission of the TWC Tax Department is to assist Texas employers in complying with Tax portions of the Labor Code. The department also collects unemployment taxes from employers subject to the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act (TUCA) - such taxes provide for the Unemployment Compensation Fund, a reserve from which unemployment benefits are paid to eligible claimants. First, to help Texas employers comply with the TUCA by collecting reports and taxes, performing specialized accounting, processing refunds and responding to employer inquiries. Second, to assist management and regional managers accomplish their mission through management of the audit program, training and operational reviews. Status SectionPhone No: (512) 463-2731 Fax No: (512) 463-9111 The functions of the Status Section are to register and determine liability of employing units under the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act, notify liable employers of their account number and tax rate, determine applicability of the provision for transfer of compensation experience between employers, update employer accounts to reflect the current status, current address and phone number, current ownership and business activities, review claimant disagreements to monetary determinations and establish additional wage credits when appropriate, and provide employers with accurate information and assistance regarding tax liability.
